Pilpintuwasi
Pilpintuwasi is located at Padre Cocha (on the Nanay river), near the rainforest city of Iquitos. Pilpintuwasi has been officially recognized as refuge center for wildlife. Pilpintuwasis educational work helps making local people be aware of the importance of species conservation.
Pilpintuwasi however does not receive any governmental funding but depends entirely on private donations and the tireless voluntary work of its founders the Austrian born Gudrun Sperrer and her Peruvian husband Roblar Moreno.

All of the animals at Pilpintuwasi are orphans. Their mothers, or in cases of some of the monkey species their fathers, who carried the baby, got killed, and afterwards the babies ended up at Pilpintuwasi.

Each of the animals needs food and sometimes medicine or veterinary care. The Orphanage has covered the cost of providing nourishment and care until now, however, as the Orphanage grows, expenses will need to be covered through the generosity of people like you.
Mundo Azul has joined the Pilpintuwasi Animal Orphanage in their effort to provide for these victims of human activities.
In August 2007 Mundo Azul, thanks to the support of the Ecological Police and the National Institute for Natural Resources (INRENA), was able to organize a first rescue operation transferring 1 red-and-green macaw, 1 mealy parrot and 5 scarlet-fronted parakeets to Pilpintuwasi where they will find a permanent hme (read more).
Mundo Azul collects donations for the Pilpintuwasi orphanage. 100 percent of your donation will benefit the animals. Your entire donation serves directly to pay food, veterinary care and other needs of the animals. Neither Mundo Azul nor Pilpintuwasi will use money from your donation for other purposes. Help us repairing a little bit of the damage humans have done to these animals.
