“Junior”, the black Capuchin monkey
“Junior” was left by a Canadian tourist who had bought him from a hunter because she pitied the animal. This was a completely wrong idea, because she gave the person who sold it a reason to kill more animals and sell their babies). Gudrun therefore was very angry with the girl, when she came up with the monkey, and I didn’t really want to take it. But when she saw that “Junior” had pieces of bullets in his elbow, his hand and one of his knees, she gave in.
“Junior” was tiny and is still smaller than the rest of the monkeys, but he’s a real bully and takes away the food even of the big monkeys. Besides he is a very funny little fellow who has a very expressive face and ‘talks’ to you if you let him get on you. Like Tony, he hasn’t got any respect of anything and anybody – those capuchins even jump on the caimans when they see them on land! Junior already learned from Tony how to open zippers and how to get into pockets……
